O longa animado Astro Boy deve manter sua data de lançamento

Nesta terça o site io9.com publicou uma entrevista com Erin Corbet, presidente da filial americana da Imagi, estúdio que está produzindo o longa de animação 3d “Astro Boy” e cujo escritório central fica em Hong Kong. Nela, Corbet negou os rumores de que a produção do longa havia sido supensa por problemas financeiros do estúdio. Segundo Corbet a Imagi tem o capital para finalizar “Astro Boy” e a data de lançamento deve ser cumprida, outubro de 2009.

Também afirmou que 50% da cenas já estão renderizadas e completas e a maior parte da dublagem está pronta, dublagem que inclui nomes como Freddie Highmore, Nicholas Cage, Eugene Levy, Bill Nighy, Donald Sutherland e Kristen Bel.

E para quem não conhece Astro Boy, este é o nome ocidental para Tetsuwan Atom, mangá e anime criados por Osamu Tezuka, considerado o pai do mangá moderno, cujo estilo é facilmente reconhecido e foi altamente difundido mundo afora.

Astro Boy é também a mais famosa de suas criações e conta a história de um jovem robô criado por um brilhante cientista à imagem de seu falecido filho. Mas incapaz de suprir as expectativas de seu criador, Astro Boy sai pelo mundo em busca de aceitação e para compreender como é viver como um humano, encarando aventuras em que necessita usar seus poderes para combater o mal.
