Fabricantes multinacionais de jogos eletrônicos voltam sua atenção para o Brasil

Enquanto outros setores veem à frente um período de negócios modestos, os videogames ainda têm fôlego. O crescimento mundial se mantém em cerca de 10% ao ano há uma década, e saltou de U$41,9 bilhões em 2007 para mais de US$ 45 bilhões em 2008, segundo a consultoria americana NPD.

Globalmente, a venda de DVDs e discos Blu-ray com jogos superou pela primeira vez a venda dos mesmos com filmes. Enquanto a venda de discos com games chegou a US$ 32 bilhões, segundo o instituto Media Control GfK, o de filmes somou US$ 29 bilhões em 2008.

O Brasil ainda é minúsculo nesse mercado: representa 0,16% da indústria mundial de games. “Se pensarmos que o Brasil é 1,8% do mercado de software, pode-se dizer que o mercado de games, que é muito próximo, pode pelo menos dobrar de tamanho no médio prazo”, diz André Penha, presidente da Associação Brasileira de Desenvolvedores de Games (Abragames) e diretor da Tectoy Digital – que teve um aumento de quase 300% em sua receita em 2008, e espera dobrar em 2009. “O brasileiro gosta de jogos, e muitas empresas estão de olho nas oportunidades.”

John Dillulo, diretor para a América Latina da Activision Blizzard, um dos maiores grupos mundiais de jogos, anunciou para este ano a entrada oficial da empresa no mercado brasileiro. “Após focarmos no México, nosso próximo grande mercado é o Brasil”, disse, em visita recente ao Brasil. Entre os jogos produzidos pela empresa estão a série Guitar Hero – que no ano passado chegou a US$ 1 bilhão em vendas -, Call of Duty e o jogo online World of Warcraft, que possui 11 milhões de usuários pagantes. “Vamos fazer lançamentos aqui junto com os internacionais e ter uma relação mais próxima com os consumidores.” A possilidade de criar um estúdio no Brasil ainda está em avaliação

Outras gigantes internacionais, como Eletronic Arts e Ubisoft, já estão por aqui. Esta última comprou na semana passada o estúdio gaúcho Southlogic. “O grande desafio do Brasil é a pirataria”, diz André Penha. segundo ele, cerca de 90% dos consoles (aparelhos) de videogame usados no Brasil entraram no País ilegalmente e subfaturados. Os jogos também sofrem com as cópias piratas. “Uma estratégia para crescer é criar produtos ?sem disco?, vendidos online para consoles ou celulares”, diz. Ele cita como exemplo o World of Warcraft, o jogo brasileiro Taikodon, também online, e o console Zeebo, da Tectoy, que baixará por rede 3G.

As empresas nacionais também preveem um bom ano. “É uma nova fase”, diz o diretor do estúdio Insólita Abdução, Winston Petty. Antes dois estúdios, Insólita e Abdução, eles se fundiram para atender à demanda nacional e externa. “Esperamos dobrar o faturamento. Estamos desenvolvendo projetos para a Nintendo, negociando com a Sony e com outras empresas grandes. O Brasil pode se tornar o maior mercado de videogames da América Latina, no lugar do México”, diz. “Mas enquanto outros países criam leis de incentivo, aqui aumenta-se a taxação sobre esses produtos.” Ele atribui o crescimento ao aumento do público-alvo. “Hoje, há produtos para crianças, adultos, mulheres, dos mais complexos aos mais casuais. Quem começou a jogar em 1980 continua, e mais pessoas se juntam ao grupo.”

O diretor da agência Hive, Mitikazu Lisboa, focou seu negócio na criação de games e venda de publicidade dentro de jogos por essa razão. “Quando acham que meu produto é para jovens, mostro que a idade média dos usuários é 35 anos. Eles começam investindo pouco, depois aumentam”, conta ele, que pretende crescer de 20% a 50% este ano e atende clientes como Gillette e Samsung.
