Desenvolvido pela Relic Entertainment o mesmo criador de “Homeworld“, “Impossible Creatures” e “Dawn of War“; “Company of Heroes” foi considerado pela crítica o melhor jogo de estratégia em tempo real lançado em 2006, é um jogo extremamente realista e que usa as novas tecnologias para criar um campo de batalha sem precedentes.
O game se foca nas batalhas vividas pelos membros da Able Company, soldados dos Estados Unidos que durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial entram em confronto com a Alemanha Nazista, desde o desembarque na Normandia no Dia-D, até o termino da campanha com a rendição do 7º exército nazista, batalha final que decidiu o rumo da Guerra. Os jogadores viverão de perto as vitórias e fracassos desses heróis em uma variedade de combates pela Europa, com cenários fantásticos que podem ser totalmente destruidos, tais cenários foram muito bem construídos com modelos e detalhes 3D diversificado e bem resolvidos.
Usando um sistema gráfico de ponta, jogadores verão campos de batalha com centenas de soldados e veículos, criados com uma qualidade 3D comparável aos dos jogos de tiro em primeira pessoa. Além disso, o jogo usa o sistema de física Havok de “Half-Life 2“, fazendo com que as unidades sigam as leis da gravidade com um alto grau de realismo; tiros, explosões e coisas voando pelos ares são alguns dos efeitos fantásticos encontrados no jogo, alem da inteligência artificial das tropas que eleva a jogabilidade no modo de um jogador, e deixa o jogo muito mais dinâmico.
